DEAC and Data Logistics Center (DLC) are marking a significant milestone by merging under a new brand, Delska. With this move, 25 years of network and data center experience would be combined, offering improved solutions for companies that depend on reliable network operations and strong IT infrastructure over multiple locations. The merger, while strategic in nature, maintains the existing legal entities of both companies.
Owned by the Swiss Quaero European Infrastructure Fund II and managed by Quaero Capital since 2020, DEAC and DLC have seen accelerated development and infrastructure expansion. Andris Gailitis, CEO of both DEAC and DLC, expressed enthusiasm about the rebranding journey, which aims to foster closer collaboration between the companies and broaden their service offerings to meet the IT challenges of clients from over 40 countries. Mr. Gailitis emphasized that Delska will prioritize customer-centric solutions, tailored to specific business and industry needs.
According to the companies themselves, the newly formed Delska brand is built on values of openness, flexibility, and reliability, with a continued commitment to security, quality, and sustainability. The new data center company leverages green energy and uses Neste MY diesel from HVO for backup power generators, underscoring its dedication to sustainable operations. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
AI and Edge Computing Demand
The current surge in AI and the growing demand for large-scale data processing, edge computing, and high-power computing have prompted the construction of new data centers. To address the power capacity shortfalls in major European hubs, Delska is building a 10 MW data center in Latvia. Scheduled for completion in 2025, this new facility will be one of the most sustainable in the region, boasting LEED and Tier III certifications. The data center will offer flexible options of up to 100kW per rack and 1000 racks available for pre-booking, with potential expansion up to 50 MW.
Delska‘s expansion plans also include a new data center in Lithuania, with additional players expected to join the group, reinforcing the regional data center and network ecosystem. The company operates several data centers in Riga and Vilnius, along with points of presence in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Stockholm, ensuring business continuity for customers through disaster recovery solutions.
The comprehensive range of IT services offered by Delska includes cloud solutions, dedicated servers, security, network solutions, and managed services. CEO Andris Gailitis highlighted plans to implement instant bare metal services this year, in addition to the existing virtual machine deployment platform, designed for SMBs, developers, and startups. This move would aim to simplify IT management further and enhance the overall customer experience.
