Solution for Managing Nameservers and Domains
Step 1:
Start by determining which domain you want to serve as your primary website.
Step 2:
Once you’ve identified your main domain, proceed to update its nameservers to point to your new server’s IP address.
You have two options for accomplishing this:
1. Using Namecheap’s custom nameservers:
– Log in to your Namecheap account.
– Navigate to the Domain List section.
– Choose the relevant domain.
– Access the Nameservers tab.
– Opt for the Use custom nameservers feature.
– Input two custom nameservers with your new server’s IP address.
– Save your changes.
2. Creating custom nameservers:
– Log in to your OVH account.
– Head to the DNS section.
– Select the Add a domain option.
– Specify your desired domain name.
– Follow the prompts to create two new nameservers.
– Assign your new server’s IP address to each nameserver.
– Complete the creation process.
Allow some time for these changes to propagate, which could take up to 24 hours.
Step 3:
Once the changes have propagated, update the nameservers for your remaining three domains to match those of your main domain or the custom nameservers you’ve set up.
Here’s how:
– Log in to your Namecheap account.
– Navigate to the Domain List section.
– Select the relevant domain.
– Access the Nameservers tab.
– Input the nameservers of your main domain or the custom nameservers you’ve created.
– Save your changes.
Notes:
Before proceeding with any alterations, ensure you back up your DNS information.
