Global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data center, colocation, and interconnection services, Digital Realty, has selected HPE Private Cloud Business Edition to standardize and upgrade its infrastructure across more than 300 data centers in over 25 countries. The move reflects growing demand for scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient data center solutions that can support the increasing volume and complexity of enterprise workloads worldwide.
The adoption of HPE’s Private Cloud Business Edition marks a strategic shift in Digital Realty’s global operations, aiming to unify infrastructure management while enhancing scalability, security, and operational resilience.
According to Faramarz Mahdavi, vice president of IT infrastructure and operations at Digital Realty, the new platform delivers predictable total cost of ownership (TCO) and future-proofing capabilities necessary for meeting evolving customer demands. He emphasized the need for a reliable, flexible technology foundation to support the company’s expanding global footprint and mission-critical operations.
HPE’s platform would offer complete infrastructure automation and lifecycle management, allowing Digital Realty to reduce operational complexity and focus on delivering business value to clients. The integration of the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 – a disaggregated, scale-out storage system with guaranteed 100% availability – adds robust capabilities for managing mission-critical workloads. This architecture supports simplified maintenance, cross-stack visibility, predictive analytics, and enhanced reporting, creating a cloud-like operational experience for on-premises data environments.
Infradax, WWT
Cheri Williams, HPE’s senior vice president and general manager for private cloud and flex solutions, highlighted Digital Realty’s endorsement as a strong vote of confidence in HPE’s private cloud technology. Independent research cited by HPE suggests that Private Cloud Business Edition can reduce TCO by up to 2.5 times compared to other solutions.
The implementation is being supported by global technology integrators, including Infradax and World Wide Technology (WWT), to ensure consistent deployment across Digital Realty’s international data center operations. The decision followed a comprehensive evaluation of storage-only options, with HPE’s integrated SaaS-based platform ultimately standing out as the most efficient and scalable solution.
