Can I Get Advice On New Host Instead of Awardspace?
I have been with Awardspace for 15 years. I have about 20 domains with them.
Now they seem to be beginning to deteriorate.
I get messages for the first time ‘warning’ me that my SSL certificate is about to expire. Looking for money to renew it or something I suppose.
I supposedly on the Max Pak Plus plan have unlimited nearly everything.
I use a measly 6G of space. But it seems that because I have exceeded the limit of 3G they no longer back up my files!
I need Python but their Python is 2.7 or something – whatever it is it is now unsupported and useless to me and they will not update they tell me.
I have a php routine that uploads files. Just for the first time this, started it this week. It would not upload a 695M file. Took days of troubleticket false ‘fixes’ before they come up with a declaration that uploads via that route are limited to 50MB or something trivial. So use FTP. Automating server side FTP requires Python. See above.
So that means to me one or both of two things:
. Inept troubleticket staff
. Very low usage of Awardspace if this question doesn’t come up all the time
I thought they had hundreds of thousands and all kinds of installations/domains and were catering to all kinds of requirements. Takes them three days to figure out this thing?
And so on. Stuff like that.
Now their troubleticket people suggest I get a vps plan. But they provide no details. They offer no options at all. To me that smacks of lackadaisical business acumen and customer care, worries me.
Disappoints me.
It didn’t used to be like that.
My rent expires on the fourth.
I either renew for a year or go elsewhere.
So I am kinda hurriedly looking around see what’s available.
It has always suited me fine and the thing I liked most that I didn’t see other places was the unlimited domains. I figure no use paying bigger dollars for hosting domains if they’re not going to expand and none of mine have ever expanded, still to this day, so Awardspace is a good enough place for them. If something boomed then I’d look into finding it its own home and paying more for it.
But now Awardspace is putting all this trivial and irritating crap in my way where nothing has changed: except Awardspace.
So: I’m looking for something like Awardspace but something caring about customers and on its way up rather than uncaring and probably on the way down, like Awardspace might be.
Any help? Any new super youbeaut things popped up in the last decade while I wasn’t watching?
