With the activation of two new regional Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Mexico and an upgraded PoP in Peru, Liberty Networks, a supplier of enterprise connectivity and digital infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean, increased the reach of its network.
The company’s regional expansion plan is supported by the new and improved PoPs, which are situated in Lima, Peru, and Campeche and Chetumal, Mexico. They also improve connection throughout South America and Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.
This expansion initiative represents a significant turning point in Liberty Networks’ regional strategy, reaffirming the company’s dedication to breaking into new markets and providing dependable, high-performance connection to underserved and rapidly expanding areas. The company’s subsea cable system, MANTA, will support the growth of the terrestrial network and the PoP deployment. It is intended to maximize regional traffic flow by providing low-latency routes that link important data hubs throughout the Americas.
“Our goal is to create a more robust and intelligent digital ecosystem throughout Latin America, and these new and improved PoPs are more than just network expansions,” said Ray Collins, SVP of Infrastructure and Corporate Strategy at Liberty Latin America. “Our arrival in Lima, Peru, is a significant turning point and reaffirms our dedication to these important markets over the long run. We’re establishing the groundwork to guarantee that the area can compete and take part in the digital future with our expansion in Mexico and the strategic introduction of MANTA to support these PoPs.”
96 Wholesale Network PoPs
The Points-of-Presence will provide local businesses, carriers, and government organizations a range of solutions, such as high-speed IP transit, DDoS protection, MPLS, and Ethernet services, allowing them to expand operations, improve performance, and easily link with international networks. Liberty Networks will now reach 96 wholesale network PoPs throughout Latin America and the Caribbean thanks to these developments.
The company’s activities, which cover more than 30 countries with 17,000 kilometers of terrestrial networks and approximately 50,000 kilometers of undersea fiber optic cable, serve as the foundation for regional connectivity. By placing important network nodes closer to companies, improving performance and dependability for mission-critical activities, and facilitating quicker data transmission for a flawless user experience, this strategic expansion improves the customer experience.
“Our improved PoP in Lima demonstrates our dedication to bolstering the rapid growth of the digital market in Peru,” said Mr. Collins. “It’s a crucial component of our regional growth strategy and our overarching goal to provide scalable, secure, and future-ready connectivity that drives regional economic growth and speeds up digital transformation.”
This most recent expansion is a component of the company’s $250 million five-year investment strategy, which was announced in 2023, and comes after PoPs in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and Mérida, Mexico, were activated last year. Strengthening Liberty Networks’ digital backbone is a key component of the strategy, especially in areas where the fast increase in data consumption is changing the demands of society and industry.
With about 50,000 kilometers of underwater fiber optic cable and 17,000 kilometers of terrestrial networks, Liberty Networks is one of the top providers of enterprise connectivity and infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean, connecting more than 30 countries.
