VIDEO INTERVIEW – At CloudFest 2025, the HostingJournalist.com editorial team had a video interview with StorPool CEO and Founder Boyan Ivanov, to explore how the company is reshaping the future of storage infrastructure for cloud service providers and enterprises alike.

StorPool, a software-defined storage platform, offers deep integrations with a wide range of cloud management systems – including OpenStack, CloudStack, OnApp, Proxmox, and Kubernetes. Particularly in the wake of Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware, many enterprises and service providers would be seeking open, vendor-neutral alternatives that give them more flexibility and control.
StorPool’s platform responds to this market shift by replacing legacy appliance-based storage architecture with an API-first, infrastructure-as-code solution. The result is faster deployment, better scalability, improved uptime, and higher performance, according to Boyan Ivanov. This approach can be ideal for large-scale operators – including SaaS vendors, hosting companies, and hyperscale providers – who need robust, enterprise-grade infrastructure with the agility to keep pace with fast-changing workloads.
Boyan Ivanov also discusses the launch of StorPool’s new Disaster Recovery (DR) Engine. Unlike traditional setups that require multiple vendors for primary storage, backup, and disaster recovery, StorPool now offers these capabilities in one integrated solution. This would allow service providers to build and deliver seamless DR services for their end users. The system continuously ships snapshots and metadata of virtual machines to a remote site, enabling full recovery in case of a site failure – ensuring minimal disruption and reliable business continuity.
