You are probably not considering that it is a VPS, not a dedicated server.
Chances are that the SSD-based storage node is already under constant read-writes since this is a VPS node. That constant I/O operation will eat up the IOPS of SSD, not necessarily disk IO (but likely, too). IOPS is needed to read/write smaller but many files, and disk IO is responsible for larger but fewer files.
If you do not consider that, the system OS, and all other software will perform much better on NVMe compared to SSD. It will be snappier even on an idle VPS.
